Stockings for the Homeless

So, I am so proud of Lisa and my middle school girls!

They came up with the idea to make stocking for the homeless. To buy hygenic products, snacks, and bake Christmas cookies and then stuff it all in a stocking to spread some Christmas cheer to those who might otherwise not get anything.

It was a 3 part process that spanned over 3 months. We let the girls take charge of it all - money, budgeting, deciding what to buy and what not to buy... They did an amazing job owning up to this project.

The most exciting part was Chris Groover (our middle school pastor) spoke about being a Good Samaritan at church last Sunday morning. Sunday afternoon we had planned to make the cookies and deliver the stockings. The girls gave them all away - Lisa and I and Cory Dunbar supervised in order to make sure everyone was safe. Every one of the girls I believe walked away with a deeper understanding of God and the poor.

Here are some pictures of the process - shopping, baking, stuffing, delivering, and celebrating!

Merry Christmas!
